The Art of Anglage: Finishing at the Highest Level

Anglage is one of the most demanding finishing techniques in watchmaking. During this process, the edges of plates, bridges, and cocks are manually beveled, broken, and then polished. This technique gives movements their characteristic elegance: mirror-polished bevels, smooth transitions, and perfectly defined light edges. Beyond aesthetics, anglage also improves functionality by removing sharp edges and reducing material stress.

Anglage is the bevelling and polishing of the edges of plates, bridges, and steel components.
This process creates a 45° bevel that is then polished to a high gloss. The goal is a perfectly uniform, mirror-like edge without waves or scratches.

The Microtec triangular files from SIA are an essential tool for the manual refinement of movement components. Their triangular shape makes it possible to cleanly work even the most complex inner angles, openings, and delicate geometries.

It does matter which batteries you buy!

Most AAA batteries look identical on the outside, but tests reveal significant differences in performance. The key factors are usable energy, runtime under load and voltage stability. While this is hardly relevant for simple devices such as remote controls, it becomes clearly noticeable with higher power consumption. Review: Successful PUK Fine Welding Workshop 2026
The weekend seminar on April 11th and 12th, 2026 was once again all about state-of-the-art welding technology!

In our proven partnership with Lampert, we were delighted to offer our popular workshop on PUK fine welding again this year. Participants took advantage of the exclusive opportunity to extensively test the PUK 6.1 welding devices in practice.

The highlight of the two-day seminar was the expert guidance of Ms. Susanne Englert. As a trained master silversmith and lecturer at the State Drawing Academy in Hanau, she is a true luminary in her field. With her outstanding expertise, she covered the following key topics, among others:
• Precise repairs on delicate workpieces (including the welding of ear studs and settings)
• Precision work in MICRO and PIN mode, specifically for the secure welding of ear stud pins
• Exact fixation welding for the pinpoint tacking of objects
• Solution approaches for individual special applications

Particularly valuable for the participants was the direct relevance to their own daily work: many had brought along their own jewelry and watch items from their workshops. Using these, Ms. Englert developed tailored solutions as examples for the entire group and provided indispensable tips for everyday practice.

In addition to the transfer of knowledge, the lively exchange of experience among the experts was also a focal point, which further enriched the weekend.

The consistently positive feedback from the participants confirms the value of this format, which we have successfully established as a regular, annual event.

New formula for Boley R (cleaning) and Boley S (rinsing)

Boley has fundamentally revised the formulation of its cleaning and rinsing solutuions for watch movements and adapted them to the current requirements of modern ELMA and Wellner cleaning machines. The new formulation offers superior cleaning performance, improved material compatibility and optimised drying properties.

Boley R – Watch cleaning
The cleaning fluid contains an increased proportion of selected active ingredients and additives, ensuring that even stubborn contaminants are reliably dissolved. Special protective components improve compatibility with sensitive materials. Boley R can be used as usual in the immersion process – with or without ultrasonic support.

Boley S – Watch Rinsing
The rinsing fluid removes anhydrous cleaning agents particularly efficiently and ensures even faster, residue-free drying, even in hard-to-reach spaces within unassembled movements.

Both products are classified as dangerous goods in accordance with ADR; however, in containers of up to 5 litres, they meet the requirements for simplified transport under the Limited Quantity (LQ) regulation.

You can now register for our professional workshop on PUK fine welding. We will provide you with comprehensive support and offer you a practical exchange of experience with our qualified speaker.

Under the leadership of Ms Susanne Englert, master silversmith and current teacher at the stately Drawing Academy in Hanau, we are offering you this workshop with extensive training and exchange of experience on 11.-12. April 2026 at our premises in Stuttgart. You will be trained on the latest ‘PUK 6.1’ equipment from Lampert Werktechnik and only need to bring your own pieces of jewellery and watches as practice pieces.
