Additional Device for XXL Faceted and Patterned Rings

The XXL accessory for extra-large faceted and patterned rings is a special add-on designed for use with ring-expanding and reducing machines. It enables gentle size adjustments of wide, flat, and patterned rings.

Expanding:
Insert the appropriate expansion mandrel into the base plate. Then slide a measuring disc over the mandrel. The lower number on the disc corresponds to the desired ring size. Next, place the ring onto a suitable plastic sleeve and slide the sleeve over the lightly greased mandrel. Press the sleeve downward using the spring head. Lift the expanded ring and the measuring disc using the extraction hooks. Only expand the ring by two sizes at a time, then switch to a larger plastic sleeve.

Reducing:
First select a plastic bushing that fits the ring. The ring must sit flat at the bottom of the bushing. Insert the bushing into a steel die so that it protrudes about 2–3 mm. Position the die with the bushing centrally under the reducing punch, then press the bushing into the steel die using the punch. The steel die should always be lightly greased. The inside of the bushings must not be greased, as this would cause the ring to slip and deform during reduction. Using optional spacer discs No. 609380 prevents the ring from shifting.
