Diamond testing unit Presidium Synthetic Diamond Screener II (SDS II)

This tester is used to identify synthetic and real diamonds. The stones may be loose or set used together with the ring in the unit. It is the UV transmittance and absorption measured. Now tests for diamond melees as small as 0.02 carats.

Synthetic diamonds are produced by chemical deposition from the gas phase (CVD) or by the high-pressure high-temperature process (HPHT). The Synthetic Diamond Screener Presidium has now been developed specifically to identify colorless Type IIa diamonds. When UV radiation Type Ia diamonds and Type IIa absorb different amounts of UV light. Type IIa diamonds can be compared with Type Ia diamonds more UV light through; the absorption capacity is low. These differences in UV absorption are large / significant enough to differentiate between colorless diamonds of type Ia and IIa can.

For SDS II, do kindly note that testing is only suitable for known diamonds. As such, moissanite & other diamond simulants are not suitable for testing with SDS II.

We recommend using the Presidium Multi Tester III or Adamas, which helps users quickly distinguish diamonds from moissanites and other diamond simulants (White Sapphire, Cubic Zirconia, etc.). After getting a positive "Diamond" reading on Multitester III or Adamas, you can then use the Synthetic Diamond Screener II to help screen out possible lab grown diamonds from natural diamonds.
