regulating pendulums
Pendulum for Mechanical Clocks
The pendulum is the timekeeping mechanism of a mechanical clock. It swings around its suspension and sets the regular rhythm for the clockwork. The length of the pendulum determines the duration of the swing – and thus the accuracy of the clock.
A shorter pendulum swings faster, a longer one slower. This fine adjustment is made using an adjusting nut at the lower end of the pendulum, which can be turned up or down.
