Nickel Test - ready for use
The Nickel Test is a ready for use test for checking metal objects, alloys, etc., such as eyeglass frames, jewelry, coins or other items for nickel.
For testing, add 1-2 drops directly to the object and let it act for about 60 seconds.
Alternatively, put 1-2 drops on a cotton bud and rub about 60 seconds across the surface of the examining object.
In the presence of nickel, the drop of the test solution or the soaked watty becomes strongly pink to red. The intensity of the red color depends on the amount of nickel. A quantitative statement can not be done with the nickel test.
